How do you think the lack of water threatens Singapore's security?
ANS: It will make us vulnerable to other countries as we are dependent on other nations to provide us with water, which is an essential necessity that we cannot live without.

Why do you think it is important for Singapore to seek out alternative sources of water?
ANS: In times of crisis, other countries will be less likely willing to share their resources and support our country/ during conflicts, countries may stop wanting to supply and support us, hence, Singapore has to find their own alternatives, to support ourselves and stop relying on others.

    1) What factors caused the Maria Hertogh riots in Singapore? Why is it important for Singapore to practice Social Defence in our daily lives?

The Maria Hertogh riots were caused due to a newspaper publishing the image of Maria Hertogh kneeling before a statue of the Virgin Mary in a Catholic church. The image was controversial as Maria Hertogh was a 13 year old who was raised by Muslim parents during the war that was forced to be returned to her original parents. The Muslim community deemed the image insensitive. Soon after the newspaper was published, a mob formed and violence soon escalated.

    2) How have you played your part/ how can you do your part to strengthen ties with your friends from other races?

I have most definitely played my major part in strengthening ties with my friends of other races by not being racist at all, and understand their religion and culture and deeply enriching ourselves in their tradition to understand more about our peers. As diligent and knowledgable Singaporeans, we do not aim to criticize our peers for our vast differences. Instead we embrace ourselves in their flourishing vibrant festivals which allows us to be united Singapore as we all know each other as much as the other knows about us.

  4. 1) values to be learned: resilliance, discipline, endurance

attitude: passionate, dedicated, awareness of danger, self-initiated

importance: they need to be aware of danger and take initiative to be prepared before danger strikes. After that, they need to endure to continue fighting for greater good and be dedicated. Lastly, from all these, they will be passionate to work so as to be productive and effective.

    2) We need to show understanding by thanking them and showing initiative to do house chores or help them in whatever they need. We can also show concern by asking how their day was, and show interest in their stories.
